I appreciate your argument on the fact that modern science was (and is) developed mainly from the west (and I hate to say this). But maybe the editors team have forgotten that there are a number of discoverer in various fields in science (including physics, cosmology, and biotechnology), who are not only Muslims, but also from the east. For example, papers from Japan and China dominate biotechnological papers, and none of their peers from the western part of the world say “Eastern Development of Biotechnology”. Modern science is in fact developed from around the world but people in Europe or the US got the name since they are better in publishing, they’ve got the money to get public’s attention. However, referring specifically to the development of science, nothing differentiates the west to the east.

My point is, I’m not that comfortable with the title, and I believe that there are a number of readers out there who feel the same way as I am. And I personally think that this regional basis of scientific researches should no longer be out there since nowadays. Scientific arguments differ in ideologies and theoretical basis, not regional part of the world, I think.

Namun begitu, sains moden yang ‘gah’ pada masa kini hakikatnya dibangunkan oleh barat dan menenggelamkan sumbangan tamadun islam ratusan tahun dahulu.

Debat sains timur dan barat ini telah berlangsung agak begitu lama dan panjang pula teori dan hujahnya. Saya mengesyorkan anda membaca beberapa buah buku karangan Fritjof Chapra (The Tao of Physic), Peter Medawar ( an advice to young scientist), Syed Hossein Nasr (Young muslim guide to the modern world), John Freely (Aladdin’s Lamp) atau boleh juga melihat karangan2 Profesor Shaharir M.Zain di laman web ASASI (www.kesturi.net)

in scientific community, we don’t label people as east, west, asian, or whatever…

i prefer the title “Kewujudan Alam Semesta Menurut Sains Moden”.. that would’ve been a better title, for me.. because evrybody who learns modern science agree with the article..
